VIDEO: "No to Price Hikes", "100 Dram": Mother Armenia's Protest During Council Meeting

Today, the Mother Armenia faction of the Yerevan City Council held a protest during the discussion of a new draft for public transport fares.

During the speech by faction leader Manuk Sukiasyan, other members also approached the podium holding banners reading "No to Price Hikes" and "100 Dram."

“The minority government of Yerevan has decided to impose an additional financial burden on the citizens of Yerevan by significantly raising the price of public transportation to 300 drams. This is blatant cynicism and incompetent governance at the same time,” said Sukiasyan during his speech.

The faction members announced that they will fight against the price increases and, accordingly, will not participate in today’s vote.
