Azerbaijan Aims to Initiate and Complete Demarcation in Tavush Region: 'Living Country'

The 'Living Country' party has released a statement claiming: 'Nikol Pashinyan declares that the demarcation works will essentially begin from the Tavush region. This is, in fact, a repetition of Aliyev's statement from two months ago, according to which the demarcation commission is discussing one issue—the demarcation of the Kazakh-Tovuz region.'

The Tavush section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has no relation to the recent Artsakh war and has not undergone significant changes over these 30 years. The remaining part of the border (excluding the Nakhchivan sector) was formed after the 2020 war, and as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression in recent years, that section has seen considerable advancements for Azerbaijan.

It is clear that Azerbaijan intends to start and complete the demarcation process in the Tavush region. As a result, it will achieve significant progress in that area, further delaying the demarcation of the border, which is vital for us.

Armenia must clarify its principles on demarcation, initiating the process from the areas where there has been advancement of Azerbaijani forces due to military operations in recent years. At the same time, it is evident that Nikol Pashinyan and his team are incapable of securing Armenian-favorable solutions in this process; therefore, we also call for support from the international community, particularly emphasizing the principles and approaches outlined in the OSCE's guidelines on 'Demarcation and Delimitation of State Borders: Challenges and Solutions.'
