We have acquired military security measures from various countries: Vagarshak Hakobyan
We have a situation where our exports to EAEU countries are growing by tens of percent every year. This is quite a positive dynamic. This was stated by Vagarshak Hakobyan, the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration and a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.
“But we also have a situation where a significant portion of our exports is going to Europe. It is very important that we deepen our cooperation with both our European partners and our partners in the EAEU. However, we are still members of the EAEU Customs Union and need to assess the situations from this perspective. I believe we can derive more dividends from cooperation with our European partners than we currently have. I consider it extremely important to adopt the approach that Armenia has. We need to be accurate in our calculations and thoroughly study our export possibilities as well.
If we have shortcomings in certain areas that hinder us from broader involvement in these markets, we need to correct them. There is no drastic issue; we are carrying out actions that will contribute to Armenia economically,” the deputy noted.
At the same time, he remarked, “Armenia, being a member of the EAEU, has experienced significant economic growth in recent years, and our exports have increased exponentially. We have acquired military security measures from various countries. We have excellent cooperation with countries that are neither in the EAEU nor in the European bloc, and contrasting Armenia's national interests and actions aimed at enhancing our security with those of any other country's national interests, I do not consider this a correct situational assessment.”
By the way, he also spoke about the resignation of Armenia's former ambassador Edmon Marukyan and possible disagreements. “At least I was not aware of any disagreements with Edmon Marukyan. Perhaps Marukyan is preparing for the 2026 elections, which I consider normal,” said the Civil Contract member.
