Hayk Kostanyan on the Death of a 9-Year-Old Child
A 9-year-old child from the Ararat region had developed a vesicular rash characteristic of chickenpox and febrile temperature since March 7. This was reported by Hayk Kostanyan, the press secretary of the Mayor of Yerevan, on his Facebook page.
On March 10, around 5:00 PM, the child was taken to the "Ararat" Medical Center due to abdominal pain. A few hours later, amid a sudden deterioration in the child's overall condition, a decision was made to transfer the child to one of the medical centers in Yerevan. However, en route, the child's condition sharply worsened, leading to cardiac arrest, after which the patient was taken to the nearest medical facility, "Surp Astvatsamayr" Medical Center. At 11:30 PM, extensive CPR measures lasting 50 minutes proved ineffective. The heart rhythm did not restore, and at 12:20 AM, clinical death was recorded. The final cause of death will be determined following a forensic examination.
It should be noted that earlier, Tsaghik Vardanyan, co-chair of the 'Right to Health' NGO, had stated on her Facebook page that a child had died at the "Surp Astvatsamayr" Medical Center with a diagnosis of "viral infectious disease due to chickenpox."
