Child Dies from Chickenpox: What the Hospital Says
A 9-year-old boy has died in Armenia. The heart of a resident of the Ararat region stopped in an ambulance. Seyran Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Director for Treatment at the St. Astvatsamayr Medical Center, reported this to Sputnik Armenia.
Co-chair of the human rights organization 'Right to Health' Tsaghik Vardanyan wrote on her Facebook page today that a child has died at the 'St. Astvatsamayr' medical center, diagnosed with 'chickenpox viral infectious disease.'
'The child was infected with chickenpox and had been at home. He had abdominal pain and went to Ararat hospital, where he received outpatient assistance and was given pain relief medication. After that, he was sent home. The abdominal pain continued, and they returned to Ararat hospital, where the attending physicians arranged for him to be transferred to another hospital in Yerevan to clarify the diagnosis,' Hovhannisyan told the media.
According to him, the child's condition deteriorated on the way to Yerevan by ambulance, and cardiac arrest was recorded. The accompanying resuscitator initiated resuscitation measures, and since the nearest medical facility was the 'St. Astvatsamayr' hospital, the child was taken there.
Resuscitation measures continued at the 'St. Astvatsamayr' Medical Center, which unfortunately did not yield results, and the child died. An autopsy will determine the actual cause of the child's death.
