Iran Signs Largest Gas Contract in History
The Iranian Minister of Oil, Javad Owji, signed the largest gas contract in the country's history, valued at $20 billion, with Iranian contractors on Sunday. This contract is part of a project to increase gas pressure in the South Pars gas field located in the south of the country.
During the contract signing ceremony, Owji stated that sanctions and diversions cannot hinder the development of the oil industry in Iran. "Despite the sanctions, we are exporting oil wherever we want, and the achievements of the government have forced the enemy to focus on this industry, but we have managed to solve the problems," the minister said.
According to him, most of the country's gas reserves are located in the South Pars field, and the raw materials for oil refining plants, petrochemical plants, and even gasoline production are also dependent on South Pars.
Contracts worth $20 billion have been signed with Petropars, Oil Industry Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC), Mapna Group, and the Khatam al-Anbiya base engineering company.
