Turkey Calls on the US to Stop Supporting Terrorist-Designated Kurds

Turkey expects the United States to halt its support for Kurdish groups recognized as terrorists by Ankara in Iraq and Syria. This information was reported by TRT television, citing sources from the Turkish Ministry of Defense. According to lenta.ru, the source stated, “The US continues to support the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), People’s Protection Units (YPG), and the Syrian Democratic Forces, which are terrorist organizations, under the pretext of fighting against the Islamic State.”

The source further emphasized that “the fight against terrorism cannot proceed with the assistance of terrorists,” thus urging friendly countries, including the US, to “cease support for these terrorist organizations and genuinely support Turkey in its fight against terrorism.”

The Ministry of Defense also announced that a permanent cooperation has been established with Iraq on counter-terrorism issues, which could positively impact Turkey's counter-terrorism efforts. Previously, it was revealed that Turkey plans to conduct a large-scale land military operation in Iraq aimed at closing all 378 kilometers of the Turkish-Iraqi border to Kurdish terrorists.
