Mirzoyan on the Withdrawal of Russian Border Guards from Zvartnots

Armenia is capable of independently conducting border security services at Zvartnots airport. This was stated by Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference with Cyprus's Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos.

'The Russian side has been informed about the Armenian initiative, and we expressed our gratitude for their support,' he said. Mirzoyan added that the notification had been made through the relevant services.

According to him, the initial presence of Russian border guards in many locations, including Zvartnots airport, was intended as assistance to newly independent Armenia and was to continue as long as Armenia needed it.

Mirzoyan indicated that the notification to the Russian side would be sufficient and the matter would be resolved accordingly. He noted that the announcement pertains only to Zvartnots airport.
