Finnish Court Convicts Frenchman for Violating Sanctions Against Russia
A Finnish court has sentenced a French citizen to nine months of conditional imprisonment for violating sanctions against Russia.
The Eastern Uusimaa District Court has imposed this sentence on Gabriel Temin, the CEO of Finnish logistics and storage companies Luminor and Siberica. According to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, he was accused of allegedly breaching sanctions and transferring military equipment to Russia.
Temin has also been ordered to reimburse the state for the economic benefits gained from the crime. Previously, charges had been brought against three employees of the companies, including a representative of the courier responsible for transit operations, but those charges have since been dropped. None of them have admitted guilt.
This is the first ruling by a Finnish court related to violations of the new sanctions against Russia.
