Biden Plans to Establish a Port in Gaza for Humanitarian Aid
U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to announce a mission to create a port in Gaza during his upcoming speech, which will allow for additional humanitarian supplies to pass through, but will not imply the deployment of American forces in the enclave, a senior administration official said.
Biden will deliver his annual address on Thursday evening Washington time (early Friday morning Yerevan time). It has been reported that in his address to Congress, he will speak about his "historic achievements" as the head of state.
"This evening, the president will announce that he is directing U.S. military personnel to lead an emergency mission to establish a port on the Mediterranean coast of Gaza that will be able to accept ships carrying food, water, and medicine," the official said during a press briefing.
