Any approach contradicting this policy is unacceptable: Iran's Defense Minister to Papikyan
Strengthening relations with all neighbors is one of the principles of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Iran places great importance on its relations with Armenia. This was stated by the Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces, Mohammad Reza Qaraei Ashtiani, during a meeting with Armenia's Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan in Tehran. The information was reported by the Mehr agency.
“It is the firm stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran to support the territorial integrity of regional countries, their right to sovereignty over their entire territory, and the non-alteration of internationally recognized borders,” Ashtiani said.
He also emphasized that Iran will remain committed to this policy in the Caucasus region and will support direct negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to the minister, regional security should be maintained by the countries of the region, and any approach contradicting this policy is completely unacceptable.
Suren Papikyan, for his part, stated, “It is very important for us that both countries share the same attitude towards stability in the region.”
