Sochi and Kapan Could Become Sister Cities, Says Zakharova

Efforts are underway to establish Sochi and Kapan, Armenia, as sister cities. This was announced by Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, during her weekly press conference.

Zakharova stated that work is being conducted on sister city agreements between Sochi and Kapan, along with Varadero in Cuba and Acapulco in Mexico. "In September 2023, an agreement was signed in Minsk to establish friendly relations between Sochi and Minsk. The issue of establishing sister city relations with Varadero (Cuba), Kapan (Armenia), and Acapulco (Mexico) is being developed," said Zakharova.

According to her, the Sochi city administration is establishing constructive cooperation with municipalities from the countries of the Customs Union, maintaining high dynamics of communication with partners in Abkhazia and China.
