Mayor's Press Secretary Responds to False News
The press secretary of the Yerevan mayor, Hayk Kostanyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "The information titled 'Tigran Avinyan joined the anti-church campaign' which is shared by some individuals without verifying its authenticity does not correspond to reality."
On February 27 of this year, the president of the NGO 'IPKH Armenian Legion's Corps-Christian Protection Volunteer Union', and the coordinator of the 'Vardanak' national movement, Tony Davlatyans, submitted a notification regarding holding round-the-clock gatherings from March 8-27 in the area adjacent to the statue of Alexander Myasnikyan. According to the decision dated February 28, 2024, of the authorized representative of the Yerevan mayor, the round-the-clock gatherings proposed by Tony Davlatyans from March 8-27, 2024, in that area have been prohibited.
Additionally, I would like to inform you that according to Article 15 of the 'Law on Freedom of Assembly', notifications for public gatherings must be published on the authorized body’s website within 3 hours of registration, but no later than the end of the working day.
