American Troops Will Not Fight in Ukraine, White House Says
American troops will not fight in Ukraine. This was stated by John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council, during a press briefing, commenting on French President Emmanuel Macron's call for allies to not be "cowardly."
"I will not analyze President Macron's words. He absolutely has the right and the opportunity to express his opinion. I can only speak on behalf of [U.S. President Joe] Biden," Kirby said. "From the very beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, he made it clear that American troops would not fight on Ukrainian territory," he emphasized.
Kirby insisted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not asked allies to send troops to Ukraine. "President Zelensky is not asking for that. He is only asking for resources and capabilities. He has never asked for foreign troops to fight for his country," the official stated. "He and his military will do that, but they need resources, and we will help with that," Kirby added.
