Video: Azerbaijani Soldier Found in Syunik Returned to Baku
On February 28, at approximately 05:15, Ruslan Eldaniz-Oghlu Penakhov, an Azerbaijani Armed Forces soldier who crossed the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border, was found by the RA Ministry of Defense servicemen in the Tegh community area of Syunik Province and has been returned to Baku, as reported by Azerbaijani media.
On the previous day, the National Security Service of Armenia announced that a criminal case had been initiated based on relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code at the Investigative Committee of Armenia in connection with the incident. The investigation revealed that the Azerbaijani serviceman, who crossed the state border of Armenia, ended up near the RA Armed Forces positions after fleeing due to an incident that occurred among Azerbaijani servicemen.
“As a manifestation of goodwill and in implementation of the agreement reached at the highest level between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, which stipulates that servicemen lost by both sides should be returned within a short period, the Republic of Armenia has decided to hand over Ruslan Eldaniz-Oghlu Penakhov to the Azerbaijani side,” the statement said.
