Hakan Fidan to Discuss Armenia-Azerbaijan Settlement in Washington

At the invitation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will make an official visit to Washington on March 7-8. This information was reported by Turkish media, citing diplomatic sources.

During Fidan's visit, a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues will be discussed in detail with representatives of relevant organizations as part of the 7th meeting of the Turkey-U.S. Strategic Mechanism.

Fidan is also set to meet with members of the U.S. Senate and Jake Sullivan, the national security advisor to U.S. President Joe Biden. Apart from bilateral agenda items, international topics are also expected to be discussed.

Specifically, regional issues such as positive relations with Greece and Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean, the peace processes between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Syria, Yemen, Iran, and Libya, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war will be comprehensively addressed during the meetings.

It is worth noting that Fidan had announced during the Antalya Diplomatic Forum that he would travel to the U.S. this week at the invitation of Secretary of State Antony Blinken to participate in the council meeting of the strategic mechanism between the two countries. The head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT), Ibrahim Kalin, is also visiting the U.S.
