Panel Honoring Fallen Soldier Albert Hovhannisyan Removed from Kanaker-Zeytun Medical Center Wall, Reports His Father
A panel honoring Albert Hovhannisyan, a soldier killed during the 44-day war, has been removed from the wall of the Kanaker-Zeytun Medical Center. The news was shared by the soldier's father, Artak Hovhannisyan, on his Facebook page.
"On February 15, 2021, the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Micro Surgery Department of the Kanaker-Zeytun Medical Center was named after my son, the renowned artilleryman and hero of Artsakh, Albert Hovhannisyan. More than 200 soldiers were treated in that department. During our recent visit, we were shocked to find that the department was missing along with my son’s picture panel. When we inquired with the staff about the whereabouts of the department and the panel, some said it had been relocated (which we could not find), while a few masked employees were surprised and claimed that there had never been a panel there. We showed them evidence of the panel’s previous placement on the wall, where the holes were still visible. Below the panel, where fresh flowers had always been placed, there was trash in a bag.
I am a fighting Armenian. For now, I will conclude with these photos… We have forgotten and denied our heroes, thanks to whom we are still alive,” he wrote.
