VIDEO: Mexican presidential candidate seals oath with blood
Senator Sochitl Galvez, the presidential candidate from the right-wing coalition "Strength and Heart for Mexico," has sealed her promise to reduce the retirement age from 65 to 60 and not cut social programs with her own blood. This announcement was made during a campaign rally, and the video was shared on her X page.
"When I assume the presidency, I will not cancel the social programs that are the rights of Mexicans. I will add that the retirement age will be 60 years," the candidate declared, after signing a document with her commitments in the presence of a notary. Above the signature, Galvez left a bloody fingerprint from her left index finger.
"The promises are sealed with my blood, it is the most precious thing I have. Social programs will not be cut," the candidate stated, showing the assembled supporters the signed document.
The presidential elections in Mexico will take place on June 2. The candidate for the ruling left-wing National Regeneration Movement is Claudia Sheinbaum, who has led the government of Mexico City from 2018 to 2023. Her main opponent is Senator Sochitl Galvez, representing the opposition right-wing coalition "Strength and Heart for Mexico." The current president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, will not run for re-election as the Constitution does not allow for consecutive terms.
