VIDEO: Anti-Terror Operation Mode Declared in a City of Russia
An anti-terror operation mode has been declared in the city of Karabulak, located in the Republic of Ingushetia, North Caucasus, Russia. This was reported to TASS by regional operational services.
"The anti-terror operation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to neutralize the encircled criminals; the clash is continuing," said an agency source.
On Saturday, during a search at a residential building in the city of Karabulak, alleged militants opened fire on Russian law enforcement officers, as reported by Interfax, citing the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.
The regional Ministry of Health has denied reports of casualties that had begun to circulate in the media.
It was reported last evening that during operational search activities in Ingushetia, security forces discovered a group of criminals planning to carry out large-scale terrorist attacks inside one of the residential buildings. During an attempt to arrest them, they opened fire on the law enforcement officers, leading to a firefight with the terrorists. Special forces of the FSB have encircled the militants in the apartment building. Residents of the surrounding homes have been evacuated. The situation is being monitored by the operational headquarters of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.
It should be noted that Ingushetia, the smallest region in Russia, is located between North Ossetia and Chechnya and has a population of approximately half a million.
