VIDEO: Is the issue of the withdrawal of Russian border guards from Zvartnots being discussed? A question to Alen Simonyan

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, in response to the question of whether the withdrawal of Russian border guards from Zvartnots is being discussed, stated: "I have not participated in such discussions, but I believe it would be appropriate for them to leave. Perhaps discussions are taking place with law enforcement or relevant bodies."

“We will defend our country's borders, and I am not sure that they will defend our country's borders. It has been proven several times that they did not protect them; I am not even mentioning that they pretended, doing everything to make those borders vulnerable. They came to Artsakh, what did they do? They came, escorted the Armenian people out, and then, two to three hours after the events ended, five people were killed, and they said, 'Did you see how we operated? Our peacekeepers died... five hours later.' They came, escorted the Armenians out, is that protection? One day they might come and send me and you out of Zvartnots,” said Simonyan.

Referring to the presence of Russian border guards in Nerkhin Hand, Simonyan said he does not know what legal basis they are there under. “It should be noted that this is also a subject for discussion.” In response to the question of whether the issue of removing Russian border guards from Nerkhin Hand is being discussed, Simonyan stated: “The discussion is about consolidating and aligning Armenia's borders with the Alma-Ata Declaration, based on which Armenia gained independence, which we commemorate on September 21.”
