Countries Ranked by Women's Employment Rates: Armenia Leads
The number of working men worldwide exceeds that of working women by 1.5 times, with only nine countries reporting more women in employment. Among the leaders in women's employment are Armenia, Turkmenistan, and Burundi. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, referencing the open statistical data from the World Bank.
It is noted that the international financial organization published the data with considerable delay. The statistics released reflect the employment situation as of the end of 2022.
In terms of women's employment, Armenia ranks first in the world with a rate of 52.76%. Not far behind is another post-Soviet country, Turkmenistan, at 52.61%. The third position is held by the African nation of Burundi, which is among the least developed countries globally, with a rate of 51.96%.
Additionally, the share of women's employment exceeds that of men in six other countries, including Mozambique (51.63%), South Sudan (51.30%), Zimbabwe (50.68%), Belarus (50.15%), Barbados (50.10%), and Lithuania (50.06%). Russia stands in 22nd place with a women's employment share of 49%.
It is also highlighted that Yemen has the lowest rate of women's employment, where only one in every twelve workers is female.
