Scholz Addresses Officers' Discussion on Possible Use of Taurus Missiles on Crimea Bridge
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, has promised to swiftly investigate the situation surrounding a leaked recording of conversations between high-ranking German military officers, which pertains to the potential use of Taurus missiles on the Crimea Bridge. The incident has been labeled a 'very serious issue' by the Chancellor.
'For that reason, it is now being clarified very thoroughly, very intensively, and very quickly. That is necessary,' Scholz stated during his visit to the Vatican.
The German counterintelligence agency is looking into the potential interception of conversations among Bundeswehr officers regarding the use of 'Taurus' missiles on the Crimea Bridge.
It is worth noting that Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of Rossiya Segodnya and RT, published a transcript of the conversation between the German officers. During their discussion, they explore the possibility of attacking the Crimea Bridge. Simonyan indicated that the 40-minute recording also contains words confirming the long-standing involvement of British and French forces in the conflict.
The conversation, during which Bundeswehr representatives talk about potential strikes on the Crimea Bridge, took place on February 19. The topic was discussed by Gregen, head of the Air Force Command's operations and exercises department, as well as Lieutenant Gerhartz and staff members Fenske and Frochtedten from the Air Operations Center.
At the same time, one of the officers mentioned a planned visit to Ukraine on February 21, intended to coordinate strikes on Russian targets. Additionally, the Bundeswehr considered the possibility of supplying 100 'Taurus'-type missiles to Kyiv, which would be ready for deployment in eight months.
