Hungary Becomes Last Country to Ratify Sweden's NATO Membership Application

The President of the Hungarian Parliament, László Kövér, has signed and forwarded the document ratifying Sweden's application to join NATO to the country's presidential office for approval and publication on March 2. This information was reported by Reuters, citing the press service of the Hungarian Parliament.

It is noteworthy that Hungary was the last NATO member country whose approval was necessary for Sweden to join the North Atlantic Alliance. The Hungarian Parliament approved the application on February 26, with nearly all lawmakers voting in favor—188 deputies. Six parliamentarians voted against it.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that this is a historic day for his country. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that Sweden's accession would make the organization stronger and safer for all.
