Will Snoop Dogg's Concert Take Place This Year?
According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', news circulated at the beginning of last summer, later confirmed, that American rapper Snoop Dogg would perform in Armenia. In August, it became known that $6 million, approximately 2.3 billion AMD, had been allocated from the state budget for the concert. It was later decided that the concert would take place on September 23, but during the period of September 9 to 10, the concert organizer, 'Doping Space', released a statement on their Facebook page: 'We inform you that the government of the Republic of Armenia has conveyed its decision to postpone Snoop Dogg's concert scheduled for September 23.'
On December 7, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, announced that the concert would presumably take place 'next year (2024) in May or June.' The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, opined that if the concert were to happen, it should be open to everyone. The question remains, 'if it happens.'
'Zhoghovurd' attempted to clarify with the Ministry of Education about the progress of organizing the concert, but the ministry responded that the matter lies with the government. The government then directed the inquiry back to the Ministry, requesting a formal submission for further clarification.
Interestingly, in response to our question about what processes have occurred concerning Snoop Dogg's concert in 2024, they replied: 'We inform you that a contract was signed between the Ministry of Education and 'Doping Space' LLC on August 18, 2023, and on February 19 of this year, a decree N1 was issued, according to which the concert of global star Snoop Dogg is planned for 2024.' The issue is that the ministry signed a decree that seemingly imposes no requirements or directives.
Moreover, the minister's statement that the concert is planned for May or June does not reflect reality, as if it were true, there would at least be some processes underway by now. With only 2-3 months remaining until the mentioned deadline, there is still no new information available.
We also asked the government to clarify who is responsible for the concert and who should address our inquiries. In response, we received the following: 'The responsible body for the implementation of the musical project
