Two Major Armenian Institutions in Germany Refuse to Attend Meeting with Pashinyan

Representatives of two major Armenian institutions in Germany—the Central Council of Armenians in Germany and the Armenian Apostolic Church in Germany—did not participate in a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan held in Munich. They received an invitation but chose not to attend the meeting. Samvel Lulukyan, a member of the Central Council of Armenians in Germany, stated this in an interview with Aravot.

“I attended the meeting as a community member, not as a member of the governing body of the Central Council of Armenians in Germany, and I raised my question in my capacity,” he said.

It is noteworthy that Pashinyan met with representatives of the local Armenian community in Munich yesterday. “The president of the Munich Armenian community, who is well known for his pro-Pashinyan views, was present at the meeting. The majority of those present had no connection to the Armenian community in Germany at all. There were some students and refugees from Ukraine, but members representing the Armenian community were mainly absent; most had no ties to the Armenian community,” Lulukyan elaborated.

“By the way, after Lulukyan's remarks to Pashinyan regarding the lost homeland, one of the attendees, Ararat Grigoryan, suggested to Pashinyan to take those who blame him on his plane to Armenia, to stand at the border and not allow the territories to be surrendered. We asked Samvel Lulukyan what he thinks about this. ‘That person is one of the close associates of the president of the Munich Armenian community. After the meeting, he approached me and asked if I was an opposition member. I told him that this is part of the problem—I have fought for independence, fought for the establishment of statehood and you are suggesting that I should be sent to Armenia on Pashinyan's plane? I said I am going to Armenia next month and I will gladly take you along if that is an issue for you,’” Lulukyan added. “These people are a zombified mass; they understand nothing about democracy, nor do they care about the homeland. The main issues raised by most participants, besides my question, were personal in nature—visa issues, citizenship questions, etc. These people do not care about the future of Armenia or Artsakh; that is the painful picture,” our interlocutor concludes.
