Son Kills Mother, Police Chief Claims Sudden Death

On February 29, operational information was received at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police that a murder had occurred in one of the houses on 24th Street in Nor Kharberd. The report was relayed to the Shengavit Police Department, where the head of the department, Andranik Shahbazyan, and the operational deputy, Margar Nersisyan, arrived at the scene.

While still at the scene and before the forensic expert had examined the body, the department head and the operational deputy announced that what had occurred was not a murder but rather a sudden death, according to Shamshyan.

A group from the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Yerevan Investigative Department arrived on the scene and demonstrated professionalism, clarifying that the incident was not a sudden death but a murder. Meanwhile, the head of the Shengavit Police and his operational deputy continued to insist that it was a sudden death.

Police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of Yerevan arrested the victim's son, 53-year-old Gevorg E., suspected of causing serious bodily harm to 74-year-old Susanna P. The suspect is taken to the Shengavit Police Department on suspicion of murder.

According to the preliminary conclusions of the forensic expert, traces of injuries were found on the face and head during an external examination. By the investigator's decision, a forensic examination of the body has been appointed.

The suspect has been transferred from the Shengavit Police Department to the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. SHAMSHYAN.com will soon report on many crimes that have occurred in the Shengavit administrative area, which the local police either cannot or do not want to investigate.
