China's Ministry of Defense Claims the U.S. is Turning Space into a Battlefield

On Thursday, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Defense, Zhang Xiaogang, stated in a press conference that the actions of the United States in space have become the primary driving force behind its militarization and the transformation of outer space into a battlefield.

“The U.S. is using so-called threats from other countries as a pretext to expand its military capabilities. China is firmly opposed to this,” Zhang Xiaogang said, as reported by RIA Novosti.

According to him, it is widely known that the U.S. defines outer space as a battlefield, develops and deploys offensive space weapons, and conducts military exercises for offense and defense along with related technical tests.

“With malicious intent, they track other countries' spacecraft and approach them at dangerous distances, creating the risk of collisions. All of this has become the main driving force behind the militarization of space, turning it into a battlefield, as well as the principal threat to security in space,” Zhang Xiaogang added.

He also emphasized that China has always adhered to the peaceful exploration of space and opposed the arms race in its domain.
