Attempted Sabotage and Murder: Investigative Committee Releases Details on Azerbaijani Soldier's Incursion into Armenian Territory
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated criminal proceedings against Azerbaijani Armed Forces soldier Ruslan Eldanis-Oghlu Penakhov following an attempted sabotage and murder incident that occurred on February 28, 2024. The proceedings are based on several articles of the Armenian Criminal Code, including Article 44-155, clauses 2, 7, and 15, Article 335, Article 340, Article 44-425, and Article 469.
Penakhov allegedly attempted to carry out acts of sabotage in a manner that posed danger to the lives of others, driven by motives of national and religious hatred, intolerance, and animosity. He is also charged with illegal possession and transportation of weapons and ammunition, smuggling of firearms and military equipment, and illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of Armenia.
Following the findings of the investigator, Ruslan Penakhov has been arrested. The circumstances surrounding the case are currently under investigation.
