VIDEO: Texas Governor Declares State of Emergency Due to Severe Wildfires

A state of emergency has been declared in Texas due to wildfires, according to a statement on the website of Governor Greg Abbott's office.

"Abbott has declared a state of emergency for 60 counties in Texas in response to wildfires in the state," the statement reads.

Meanwhile, the governor's office added that the number of counties affected by the state of emergency could increase.

In recent days, powerful wildfires have been raging in Texas. According to CNN, approximately 129,000 hectares are engulfed in flames.

Some residents in various towns are evacuating their homes, and two hospitals in a northern Canadian town have been evacuated.
