At the Last Minute, Gevorg Papoyan Nominated for Minister of Economy During the Board Meeting
'Zhoghavor' daily reports: 'On Saturday, it became known that the 'Civil Contract' party held a board meeting and decided to nominate Deputy Gevorg Papoyan for the position of Minister of Economy. Some details from that meeting have emerged. Apart from Papoyan, other candidates were also discussed, including MP Babken Tunyan; however, he declined from the outset and did not wish to be nominated for the ministerial position.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was initially not inclined to appoint any of the MPs to the executive body, but his pool of candidates is so limited that he could not find another suitable nominee. The decision to nominate Papoyan was made, one could say, at the last moment, precisely during the board meeting. Papoyan's candidacy was unanimously accepted by all members during the meeting. Instead, David Karapetyan, the former head of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, will enter the National Assembly.'
