Three Packs of Drugs Found Inside Prison Officer's Shoes; Arrest Made
As part of the fight against the illegal circulation of drugs and prohibited items involving penitentiary service personnel, officers from the Central Operations Department of the Ministry of Justice's penitentiary service conducted a search on February 25 at around 09:30 in the residential zone of the "Armavir" Prison. They acted on received operational information regarding G.G., a member of the institution's security division.
As a result of the search, three cigarette packs were discovered inside G.G.'s shoes, as well as a mobile phone from his bag. Upon inspection of the found cigarette packs, it was determined that they contained separated packages resembling marijuana, totaling 63.2 grams, and brown substances resembling heroin, totaling 9.97 grams.
G.G. was arrested by operational officers and presented to the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The penitentiary service will continue to pursue the detection and prevention of illegal connections between personnel and incarcerated individuals.
