Hungary's New President Elected from Constitutional Court
Hungary's new president has been elected as Tamas Suiok, the head of the Constitutional Court, with his candidacy confirmed by Parliament.
The previous head of state, Katalin Novák, announced her resignation on February 10. This decision was linked to a scandal involving the controversial pardon of a man accused of child molestation, who had been protected by another individual. The man had previously been found guilty of extorting several children to retract their testimonies against a pedophile director.
