86-Year-Old Woman Injured in New Aresh Explosion Dies

Rosа Nazaryan, an 86-year-old woman who was injured in the explosion in the New Aresh neighborhood of Yerevan on February 5, has died. A resident from 34th street of New Aresh reported this to Sputnik Armenia.

“Grandma Rosa passed away a few days ago. Yesterday was her funeral. She was such a wonderful woman; we all loved her very much,” said the resident.

The elderly woman had been in the intensive care unit of the ‘Erebuni’ Medical Center for about three weeks and passed away there. She was buried on February 25.

Recall that on February 5, around 11:30 AM, an explosion occurred on 34th street of New Aresh in the Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan. As a result of the explosion, three houses completely or partially collapsed, and several others were damaged.

Rescuers managed to pull Rosa Nazaryan (born 1938) from the rubble of house number 43 on 34th street, as well as Hrant Sargsyan (born 1994) from house number 23. The man was later transferred to the Burn Center.

The bodies of a couple were also recovered from the debris. The deceased were Hayk Soghomonyan, 37, and Gayane Yeghoyan, 54, both residents of house 43.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the explosion incident.
