Italy's Prime Minister Blames Russia for Escalation of Palestinian-Israeli Conflict

Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni believes that the Hamas attack on Israel would not have happened if Russia had not started its special military operation in Ukraine a year and a half ago.

In an interview with il Giornale, Meloni stated, "If international legitimacy does not restore in Ukraine, outbreaks of conflicts will multiply." She recalled that Russia began its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Meloni assured that stopping the conflict in Ukraine and achieving a "durable and just peace" are goals that need to be focused on. She emphasized that the Russian side can only be convinced to come to the negotiating table "if a balance is achieved" in military actions.
