Which Russian Banks Have Been Added to the Latest U.S. Sanctions List
The United States has imposed sanctions on the Russian banks "Avangard," "Rostfinansbank," and "Chelyabinvestbank," as well as the operator of the "Mir" national payment system. This information was revealed in a document from the U.S. Department of Treasury.
According to the announcement, the sanctions list includes Avangard, Rostfinansbank, Chelyabinvestbank, Modulbank, Databank, and Bistrobank. Additionally, JSC National Payment Card System, which operates the Mir payment system, is also included in the list.
Moreover, 93 other companies have been sanctioned, with 63 of them being Russian, 8 from China, and 16 from Turkey. Restrictions have also been imposed on organizations from the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, India, and South Korea.
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that the country would impose 500 new sanctions. He linked the expansion of these restrictions to the death of Alexei Navalny and the ongoing special operation in Ukraine.
