Center Mayor Summoned to Anti-Corruption Court: His Turn Has Come, Reports 'Joghourt'
The Anti-Corruption Court has sent a notification to Samvel Ghukasian, the head of the Center administrative district, to summon him as a witness for interrogation. We have learned that Ghukasian has appeared at the Anti-Corruption Court. This is reported by the newspaper 'Joghourt'.
It is worth mentioning that the mayor is at court in connection with a case involving abuses of power by his subordinates. Law enforcement has detained Tigran Rafik Martirosyan, head of the department for organizing work with public utilities and management of multi-apartment buildings within the Center administrative district, and Arman Nver Harutyunyan, a leading specialist in the same department.
“According to the official information from the preliminary investigation body, they, having the authority to act on behalf of the local self-government body with preliminary consent and in a group, as well as performing functions that give rise to rights, obligations, or responsibilities on behalf of the same body, being public officials, received a large sum of 1,000,000 AMD in bribes from Kamo Gevorgyan, the director of 'Asphalt Construction' LLC, who is responsible for urgent ongoing works in the Center district. This occurred on July 11, 2023, in the administrative building of the Center district staff. Gevorgyan personally handed this bribe to Tigran Martirosyan, who transferred 150,000 AMD of the received bribe to Arman Harutyunyan the next day.
It should be noted that the preliminary investigation body has not held Center Mayor Samvel Ghukasian accountable for how it came to be that his subordinates took such a punishable step without his knowledge,” the newspaper stated.
