Rustam Badasyan on the Decision Regarding Foreign Workers

The decision regarding foreign workers was adopted before 2018, as there has always been such a rule in the tax legislation that residents pay taxes both in Armenia and abroad. This was stated today by the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, during a press briefing, responding to the blockage of the Yerevan-Martuni road by residents of Gegharkunik Province.

According to the Chairman of the SRC, when we joined the agreement within the framework of the CIS in 2020, since last year, the income received from citizens has been coming electronically, and there is nothing left to do but carry out administrative procedures in this regard. “There is no need to be anxious, to exaggerate the issue, or to give it certain emphases by political forces and to subject people to stressful situations. A question of fairness is being raised, and I think that certain benefits can be applied in terms of specific income and specific thresholds, and in this regard, we have already started discussions on the issue with the Ministry of Finance,” the official detailed.

According to Rustam Badasyan, taxing those who go abroad for work does not present great interest from a fiscal point of view, as the amount in question is not something from which the state will accumulate substantial funds.
