Ten Arrested in Estonia on Suspicion of Secret Activities for Russia
Ten individuals have been arrested in Estonia on suspicion of secretly working for Russia. The Estonian Internal Security Service suspects that these hybrid operations were coordinated by Russian intelligence services with the aim of sowing fear and tension within Estonian society.
The suspects have played different roles in Estonia, acting according to the directives of their Russian superiors. Some were gathering information, while others were planning attacks that were later carried out. The agents were recruited through social media platforms.
State Prosecutor Triinu Olev stated that among the detainees are both Russian and Estonian citizens, with some holding dual citizenship.
Prime Minister Kaja Kallas announced that Estonia has "successfully halted the hybrid operations of Russian special services."
