Secret Prisons, Burials, Tortures: Russian Foreign Ministry on the Situation in Avdiivka
In Avdiivka, according to preliminary information, there have been secret tortures and burials, with Kyiv detaining residents for political reasons. This was stated by Rodion Miroshnik, Russian Foreign Ministry's Special Representative for Crimes Committed by the Kyiv Regime, to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Denis Pushilin, head of the DPR, announced that numerous war crimes had been recorded against the civilian population of Avdiivka by Ukrainian armed forces.
“We do not rule out the possibility that we will receive data on secret prisons, secret burials, and the consequences of tortures, about which we have preliminary information. Therefore, the work will now be expanded,” Miroshnik said.
“We know that there have been secret tortures—places where people have been dragged due to political motives or suspicions. In order to accurately document these and obtain official confirmation, it is necessary to work with those who are coming out of Avdiivka,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that on the night of February 17, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi ordered a withdrawal from Avdiivka. However, later the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the order came one day after the uncontrolled retreat of Ukrainian units from the city.
