Putin Calls Ukrainian Troops Withdrawal from Avdiivka a Retreat
Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from Avdiivka as a retreat. The statement was made during a meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.
“The adversary has begun a chaotic retreat from this populated area. Prior to this, the leadership of the Ukrainian armed forces issued an order to withdraw their troops when they were already in motion and leaving the settlement. As I understand it, this was done for political reasons—to cover up this action and give the appearance of a well-organized withdrawal. But we know that this is not the case; it was indeed a retreat in the true sense of the word,” Putin stated.
It should be noted that the Russian army took control of the city of Avdiivka on February 17. Russian flags have been raised over the buildings of the coking plant. President Vladimir Putin congratulated the fighters on successfully completing the battle for the city, and they will be honored for their efforts.
