Armenia Has Been and Remains an Ally, Says CSTO Secretary General

The work of Armenia within the CSTO continues, and Armenia has been and remains an ally. This was stated by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov in his article published in the International Affairs magazine.

According to him, the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been problematic in recent years, as well as the border conflicts between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

"Regarding the extremely alarming situation prevailing in the South Caucasus, particularly the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, it should be noted that the organization was prepared to send a peacekeeping mission to monitor the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. However, at the final stage of this work, Yerevan requested to remove the relevant document from the agenda related to the signing of an upcoming peace treaty with Baku. At the same time, Armenia's work within the organization continues, and Yerevan's multilateral interactions within the CSTO are ongoing in a working manner. Armenia has been and remains an ally. The CSTO member states, in turn, remain focused on developing allied relations with the Republic of Armenia,” Tasmagambetov stated.
