Germany and Turkey Collaborate Closely, I Don’t Know What German Mediation Can Offer Armenia: Khachatryan
Arthur Khachatryan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly's "Hayastan" faction, addressed the meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan under the mediation of the Chancellor of Germany in Munich.
“Germany and Turkey are collaborating closely; I don’t know what German mediation can offer Armenia,” he stated during a briefing.
According to Khachatryan, there is a change occurring in the format of negotiations. “Armenia is refusing to utilize Russian proposals, while Azerbaijan, having received what it wanted from the West, particularly from Brussels, is refusing to go to Brussels and Western platforms. The United States is announcing that it encourages direct communications from Azerbaijan, meaning it is washing its hands of all this and claiming that it is not a mediator. It is clear that they have numerous problems: the Middle East, Ukraine. I don’t know why Germany has emerged,” he noted.
Khachatryan pointed out that Germany's candidacy had been considered since the 1990s, but the Armenian side had not agreed at that time. “I don’t know what German mediation can offer,” he concluded.
