German Officials Accidentally Release Document on NATO Submarines: Bild

Employees of the agency responsible for the gas pipeline construction accidentally published a document regarding NATO submarines on their website in 2018. This was reported by Bild.

According to Bild, the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany has launched an investigation into employees of the Mountain Agency in Stralsund, who are responsible for the disclosure of state secrets during the construction of the "Nord Stream-2" gas pipeline.

The publication states that the agency’s employees had posted a document in 2018 containing information about the operational areas of NATO submarines and their armaments. It is mentioned that this information was marked as "classified, for official use only." Employees can face up to five years in prison for the disclosure of state secrets.

Commenting on the matter, journalist Nikolaus Harbush stated that this information "could have interested" those responsible for the Nord Stream explosions.

It is worth recalling that explosions in the Nord Stream occurred in the Danish area of Bornholm Island in the Baltic Sea on September 26, 2022. As a result of the explosions, three out of four branches of the gas pipeline were damaged.
