60 Million Drams Vanished from Armenian Red Cross, Lawyer Claims
The lawyer for the presidency of the Armenian Red Cross Society, Levon Baghdasaryan, stated that they have filed reports regarding various criminal acts, but the prosecution has not yet taken action. Following a report submitted by the organization's former Secretary General, Anna Yeghiazaryan, she has been recognized as a victim.
"We are talking about more than 10 reports, including the disappearance of over 60 million drams from the Red Cross, as well as the illegal use of property," Baghdasaryan detailed.
He also noted that the 30-year-old Armenian Red Cross Society is being attempts to disrupt and paralyze its operations through street justice. He mentioned that, according to press publications, there are certain interested parties involved in the situation surrounding the Red Cross, with circulating information suggesting that one of them is the Minister of Health, Anahit Avanesyan.
Regarding this information, Levon Baghdasaryan said, "If this official is not involved in this issue, they can make a statement, but in legal terms, what interests us is whether these actions are lawful and whether we see any risks related to state security."
The lawyer reiterated that the election of former Executive Director Anna Yeghiazaryan was unlawful. "They tried to hold an illegitimate assembly. If the presidency rejects a request to convene an extraordinary assembly, it is subject to implementation. If a party believes that the rejection is illegal, they should appeal or contest it. They have not appealed, and instead, they have created a situation that is unappealable. Let Anna Yeghiazaryan seek judicial protection if she believes that an unlawful decision has been made against her," stated Baghdasaryan.
It is noteworthy that a report circulated in the media on February 15, stating that Anna Yeghiazaryan was elected president of the organization during an extraordinary assembly initiated by one-third of the NGO's members. The organization later issued a statement declaring that Yeghiazaryan, who was previously the secretary general, was dismissed from her position on February 8, during a session of the presidency, and that the information regarding her election as president is not accurate, and she is engaging in self-activity.
