Key Official of the Ministry of Economy Still in the Shadows, Enjoying a Vacation
According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the key official of the Ministry of Economy is still in the shadows. While arrests are rampant at the Ministry of Economy, Karen Sargsyan, the chief secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, who has signed or endorsed almost all documents of the ministry by virtue of his position, is enjoying his "vacation" at the International Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences.
Notably, Sargsyan has been in leadership positions in the Procurement Agency since the distant 2000s, mastering the "fine art" of the sector. From 2001 to 2006, he was the head of the Department of Procurement of Works and Services of the State Procurement Agency of the Republic of Armenia. He served as the head of the Internal Control Department of the State Procurement Agency from 2006 to 2011.
It is significant that Karen Sargsyan, the chief secretary of the Ministry of Economy, unexpectedly left his position just days before the recent arrests that have made headlines. Additionally, it should be noted that Ani Ispeyrian was also dismissed from her job prior to the explosion of the scandal surrounding the ministry, which was followed by her arrest.
