If Putin Wins, the Consequences for Us Will Be Much More Expensive Than Our Assistance to Ukraine: Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that a Russian victory in Ukraine would have serious financial consequences for the European Union 'in every aspect.' Scholz shared this information on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The information is reported by gazeta.ru.

'What will happen if Putin is successful? The consequences for us will be much more expensive than our assistance to Ukraine and in all relations,' declared the Chancellor.

Earlier, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Scholz mentioned that the agreement signed between Germany and Ukraine in Berlin does not obligate the Bundeswehr to fight for Kyiv. He noted that Germany’s support is crucial for strengthening Ukraine's defensive capabilities.

According to the agreements, only the Ukrainian side will be obliged to send troops to Germany in the case of an attack on that country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also assessed the content of the security guarantees agreement provided by Germany. In a joint press conference with Olaf Scholz, he stated that the document reflects an anti-war logic that serves as the foundation for security agreements.
