Vahan Keroobyan Summoned by the Investigative Committee of Armenia

The former Minister of Economy, Vahan Keroobyan, has just entered the Investigative Committee of Armenia, according to sources from Sputnik Armenia.

On February 14, he announced his resignation from the ministerial position.

It is noteworthy that a corruption scandal involving officials from the Ministry of Economy began on January 31. Initially, Ani Isbiryan was dismissed from her position as Deputy Minister of Economy. On the same day, the National Security Service (NSS) and the Investigative Committee conducted searches at the Ministry of Economy and at several individuals' residences (in total over 15 locations) and arrested 7 people.

According to the Investigative Committee, it has been established that officials from the Ministry of Economy assisted in ensuring that their preferred participant won in a competition for the establishment of a Public Investment Programs Bank, while creating obstacles for other participants, effectively eliminating them from the competition. As a result, a company that presented a price offer nearly three times higher than its competitor, exceeding 392 million drams, was recognized as the winner.

In connection with this case, the founder and CEO of 'Synergy' company, Ashot Hovhannisyan, has already been detained, and one of the company's employees has been subjected to house arrest as a precautionary measure.
