It Is Foolish to Think That Russians Will Leave Donbass, Luhansk, and Crimea: Prime Minister of Slovakia
The idea that Russia will abandon Donbass and Crimea is "absolutely unrealistic." This was expressed by Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico in an interview with the news portal hlavnespravy.sk. The information was reported by TASS.
"If someone believes that the only solution to the Ukraine conflict is for the Russians to return to the borders they held before the escalation of the conflict in February 2022 and to leave Crimea, then that is absolutely unrealistic. We must adapt to the new reality that has now developed. It is foolish to think that the Russians will leave Donbass and Luhansk, and it is foolish to think that the Russians will leave Crimea," Fico said.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia expressed confidence that there is no military solution to the conflict in Ukraine. "I really want this war to end. Otherwise, we will witness a large number of casualties on both sides. I cannot imagine what peace between Russia and Ukraine will look like, but it will come, and that peace will be painful," the Prime Minister stated.
Fico is opposed to the West sending weapons to the Kyiv authorities. In his view, military aid only exacerbates the situation. At the same time, the head of government advocates for providing Ukraine with comprehensive humanitarian assistance.
