Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Nikol Pashinyan's Speech Today

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has responded to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's speech today.  “First, it should be noted that calling the measures taken by Azerbaijan in response to the injury of our serviceman 'aggression' means distorting the facts,” their statement said.

According to them, what happened at the border disrupted the “stability that had existed for almost five months.” “We would like to remind about the ongoing claims against Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, which are reflected in the Constitution of Armenia, current legislative acts, official letters, official statements, documents disseminated by international organizations and courts.

If the Armenian side is genuinely interested in the peace process, it should abandon its claims against Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also responded to Pashinyan's remarks regarding border villages.  “The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, while speaking about Azerbaijan's enclaves and exclaves, once again stated that Azerbaijan allegedly occupied the territories of 31 villages; this is nothing but political manipulation. We would like to remind Pashinyan, who in his previous statements spoke of such 32 villages, and that Armenia is obliged to return eight Azerbaijani villages.”
