Azerbaijan Has No Intention of Upholding International Law, Says Armenia's Permanent Representative at the UN
In reference to Azerbaijan's continuous violations of international law, Ambassador Margaryan stated that the use of military force against Armenian territory on February 13 is condemnable, resulting in loss of human lives. He emphasized that such provocations once again prove that Azerbaijan has no intention of upholding international law, highlighting that the UN and the Security Council bear special responsibility for maintaining international security and the supremacy of law.
The Armenian Ambassador mentioned Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Nagorno-Karabakh population under the guise of an environmental false agenda for months, as well as a subsequent large-scale attack leading to the mass forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population.
Permanent Representative Mhery Margaryan, in his speech, highlighted the unacceptable exploitation of food resources and the use of starvation as a tool of war, emphasizing that these actions violate international humanitarian law and that obstructing humanitarian aid to populations in conflict and crisis situations constitutes a gross violation.
During the meeting, speeches were made by the UN Secretary-General and several senior officials and representatives from member countries. A open discussion titled "The Impact of Climate Change and Food Insecurity on the Maintenance of International Peace and Security" was held on the initiative of Guyana, which presided over the UN Security Council from February 13 to 14.
